Make a Difference, Buy Organic ClothingDoes it make a difference if you buy organic cotton and other organic fiber clothing? You bet it does.
Like organic cotton, bamboo can be made into a wonderful organic fabric. Because of its natural anti-microbial property called “bamboo kunh”, bacteria won’t cultivate on it. This means no harmful chemicals are sprayed on the plant. Bamboo is nature’s most sustainable resource. It is fast growing and naturally regenerative making it a perfect choice for environmentally conscious shoppers. The best thing about the bamboo fabric however is its soft texture and breathability. It absorbs moisture quickly, dries quickly and does not absorb odor. It launders beautifully too.
Hemp, like bamboo, is inherently organic, in that it is a tough plant that requires no pesticides or herbicides. Its uses are many and varied, including food, clothing and fuel. Hemp clothing is more durable than cotton and lasts longer. It is best blended with a little organic cotton for comfort.
It just makes good sense to wear organic fiber clothing. It is better for your health and the health of our planet. |

Conventional farming of cotton uses a tremendous amount of pesticide. It is estimated that for every t-shirt produced from conventionally grown cotton 1/3 of a pound of pesticide is used. As a matter of fact 50% of all the worlds’ pesticides are sprayed on cotton. These chemical based pesticides and petroleum based fertilizers seep into the ground damaging the soil and contaminating our drinking water. Furthermore the farm workers who are exposed to these chemicals every day are forced to put their own health at risk. Not to mention, the health of their own families through second hand exposure.
